How to Clean Your Air Fryer

Overall, cleaning your air fryer is an easy task. Even better, you can purchase any extra supplies you’ll need at your local pound shop. So let’s get to it!

To begin, disassemble your trey, racks, and baskets. Then from here, we’ll clean each piece individually.

Cleaning your pan

  • Start by filling your pan with water and liquid soap.
  • Let the pan soak for 10 or so minutes. This step is important for removing any stuck-on food. Residue from eggs, meats, and oils will loosen quickly.
  • Use a delicate bristle brush to scrape any residue and particles off your pan. Remember to be careful when scrubbing. It’s easy to damage non-stick surfaces with too tough of brushes.
  • Then use a sponge or brush to finish cleaning the pan, and you’re good to go.

Cleaning the Basket

To clean your air fryer’s basket, simply follow the exact steps for the pan. Nothing really changes here, which makes cleaning this cooker all the more easy.

Cleaning the Outside of your Fryer

Every now and then, you’ll want to clean your air fryer’s exterior. It’s surprising how far this step goes for removing unwanted odours. For this step, dampen a cloth with tap water. Then scrub the air fryer. That’s seriously all you need to do here.

How to Clean Your Air Fryer’s Coil

You can’t forget about cleaning your coil. After all, food particles and smells are just as likely to attach here. To begin, use common sense and ensure the coil is cool. Then, you’ll simply use a facial tissue or soft brush to scrape away excess food and residue.

How to clean a super-filthy air fryer

Sometimes, things get ugly in the kitchen. Maybe you overcooked a fish fillet. Or your food exploded for some reason. Whatever the cause, things get messy quite a bit. And this will inevitably happen with your air fryer at some point.

So, what’s the secret answer here?

Baking soda. That’s right, it’s as simple as adding some baking soda to water. In this case, you’ll spray the new solution into your air fryer, and wait about 30 min or so.

In this half hour, the baking soda should have penetrated through all the food particles. If your air fryer remains filthy, then repeat the above steps until it cleans. Then, once you’re finished, use a towel to remove any excess residue.

Wrapping Up

Ultimately, your air fryer will emit some strange odours from time to time. Don’t use this as an excuse to ditch your cooker. Instead, view this as a signal to clean your air fryer. This process only takes a matter of minutes. Once you finish, your air fryer will be odour-free and ready to cook some more tasty meals.

  1. I like to put water with some baking soda and a little vinegar in the pan, with the basket in it. Set the temp on 400, and turn it on for 20 minutes or so. This steams everything loose. Then clean as you have said, being extremely careful around the hot coils.
Also, I use a little spray in my pan and/or basket before cooking.
After cooking, while we are enjoying our food, I fill the pan & basket with warm water & some dish soap to soak. This helps to make cleanup much easier & faster.
